Frequently Asked Questions
Find answers to common questions about ScriptCompiler.
What is a funscript?
A funscript is a JSON-based file format that contains timed action points. Each point has a time (in milliseconds) and a position value (0-100). When synchronized with video playback, these points control compatible devices to create interactive experiences.
Do I need an account to use ScriptCompiler?
You can use basic editing features without an account. Creating a free account gives you access to additional features. Premium subscriptions unlock advanced features like Script Sniper, Music Scripter, and device connectivity.
What video formats are supported?
ScriptCompiler supports MP4, WebM, OGG, and HLS streaming formats. For best compatibility, we recommend MP4 files with H.264 video codec and AAC audio.
Can I use ScriptCompiler on mobile devices?
Yes, ScriptCompiler works on mobile browsers with a responsive interface. Some features are optimized for desktop but basic editing works on tablets and phones.
How do I connect my device for testing?
Click "Connect Device" in the header, select your connection method (Bluetooth or Internet), and follow the prompts to pair your device. Device connectivity is a premium feature.
What is Script Sniper?
Script Sniper is a motion tracking feature powered by OpenCV.js running directly in your browser. It analyzes video content and automatically generates funscript points based on detected motion, significantly speeding up script creation. The optional ScriptCompiler Bridge can enhance tracking performance with a native backend.
Why is my script not playing correctly on my device?
Scripts with very fast movements (shown as red in the Script Overview) may exceed your device capabilities. Use the Smoothing tool or reduce intensity with Position Multiplier. The Device Emulator can help identify problem sections.
How do I report a bug or request a feature?
Use the Feedback button in the editor to submit bug reports or feature requests. You can also visit our community forums for discussion and support.
Is my work saved automatically?
Yes, ScriptCompiler auto-saves your work to browser storage. If you close the browser accidentally, you can restore your work when you return. We still recommend saving manually (Ctrl+S) regularly.
Can I use scripts created in other editors?
Yes, ScriptCompiler can open any valid .funscript file regardless of which editor created it. The standard funscript format is fully supported.
Does ScriptCompiler support VR videos?
Yes, VR Video Mode (currently in beta) lets you play 360-degree equirectangular VR videos with interactive camera controls. You can look around using mouse drag, touch, or device gyroscope. VR Mode works with all editor tools including Script Sniper.
How do I connect ScriptCompiler to my Stash server?
Open Settings, enable local network access in the Local Network tab, then go to the Stash tab and enter your server URL and API key. Click Test Connection to verify. Once connected, you can browse and load scenes directly from the Stash Library tab in the file manager.
